Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) affect more than one billion people globally. Impairing physical and cognitive development, NTDs make it difficult to carry out day-to-day activities, such as attending school or earning a living, thereby limiting the future of affected communities. NTDs tend to thrive in regions where there is poor water quality, sanitation, and access to health care.
Addressing NTDs requires an evidence-based, integrated approach that tackles all facets of disease. Working with local and international partners, IRD is executing a collaborative campaign to address the incidence of NTDs among affected communities.
