253 million people suffer globally from visual impairment and blindness.

Additionally, 1.1 billion have near-vision impairment. 89% live in low-middle income countries and over 75% of the causes are avoidable1.

In Pakistan, It has been estimated that 1% of the population is blind, accounting for 2 million people and millions more suffer from vision impairment2.

Building comprehensive programs for patients, the Integrated Eye Care program at IRD focuses on three main aspects: integration, capacity building and innovation for WHO priority eye diseases in both children and adults.
