JOb Purpose

Responsible for ensuring the safe and timely transportation of Kuyakhanya personnel, program-related materials and nutrition to and from the Port Shepstone Office, Kuyakhanya Playhouse and Kuyakhanya Community Playhouse Facilities, which enhances operational efficiency and safety, ultimately contributing to the smooth and compliant execution of the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely and promptly transport Kuyakhanya staff and program materials, always following traffic laws and company rules to avoid risks and ensure safety.
  • Ensure the safe handling, loading, unloading, and accurate delivery of nutrition supplies to designated Kuyakhanya facilities, adhering to project requirements, safety protocols, and completing all necessary documentation.
  • Keep vehicles in good working condition by performing regular checks, reporting any issues, and arranging repairs with the necessary Kuyakhanya personnel quickly to prevent breakdowns.
  • Complete all vehicle documentation timeously and accurately.
  • Plan efficient routes to save time and fuel, ensuring deliveries and transportation happen on schedule with minimal delays.
  • Follow all driving laws and company safety guidelines to ensure legal compliance and avoid potential problems.
  • Work closely with supervisor, colleagues and field/program team members to ensure smooth transportation, solving any issues quickly to prevent delays.
  • Improve efficiency by managing fuel use, keeping accurate trip records, and using resources effectively.
  • Identify and reduce transportation risks, like bad road conditions, by taking precautions and quickly reporting any accidents or incidents to minimize disruptions.
  • Provide reliable service by ensuring staff and program materials are transported safely and on time, meeting the needs of the field and program teams.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA)

Required Qualification

  • High School Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.

Required Experience

  • 2-3 years of professional driving experience
  • Valid South African driver’s license
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle inspections and identifying common mechanical issues.
  • Experience with GPS systems and basic route planning.
  • Familiarity with local traffic laws and regulations specific to South Africa.
