JOb Purpose

The District Immunization Officer is a leadership position at the district level. S/he will be reporting directly to the Regional Coordinator. S/he will be responsible for providing project implementation support to district health staff, monitoring project activities, engaging with parents/caregivers visiting immunization clinics, and liaison with the Government’s District Health Office (DHO), District Health Management Team (DHMT), Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and other partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate, support, supervise, and monitor the field teams and activities.
  • Assess the training needs and conduct in-class and on-site training of the field staff and vaccinators.
  • Conduct and submit investigation reports for field-reported issues.
  • Conduct regular field visits to immunization clinics to assess the challenges and facilitate implementation.
  • Conduct regular phone calls to a selected sub-sample of parents-caregivers to verify immunization visits.
  • Submit daily field reports for monitoring purposes.
  • Generate bi-weekly reports summarizing dashboard data and qualitative feedback from district teams and activities.
  • Peruse all material generated by the field team during their field visits (including reports and photographs).
  • Notify Supervisor and take corrective action whenever irregularities are suspected or detected.
  • Maintain regular stock of all project-related equipment provided by IRD.
  • Coordinate with the DHO and vaccination personnel for project-related activities.
  • Actively participate in District Government meetings regarding Immunizations/Polio and liaise with the DHO Administration.
  • Allow remote monitoring of field activities.
  • Develop positive relationships with office and field staff, vaccinators, and the DHO team.
  • Respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor and/or junior team member(s).
  • Comply with the organization’s policies and practices.
  • Maintain moral and ethical conduct.
  • Carry out other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ability to travel (up to 50%).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA)

Required Qualification

  • MBBS or a degree in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or any other relevant subject.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a medical and/or public health background.

Required Experience

  • Experience of at least 1-2 years working in the public health sector. The requirement will be waived off for medical graduates.
  • Experience and training in immunizations will be a plus

Required Skills

  • Computer Literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Fluency in English/Urdu/Sindhi (oral and written) will be preferred
